Catching up

There seems to have been many things going on that I have neglected to put on the blog. The past few weeks have been busy. Two weeks of swimming lessons, a trip to Abilene for Father's day, and a week of vacation bible school.

Cora's swimming lessons were good. She will need more, but I'm not going to sign her up at that place again. It was a 30 minute drive for 30 minute lessons. With 5 other kids in her group, that's not much time swimming. Though she did had fun with the other kids.
I may look into private lessons to see if someone can come here to the RV park. There are other children here and maybe we can get a couple of them to join in too. We'll see.

On Friday, after swimming lessons,
we headed to Abilene.

What is a 5 hour drive took us about 12 hours.

First we stopped at Bass Pro Shop and look around for awhile.

Then we went on a tour of Cascade Caverns.

It's a less visited cave so there was only us and two other people on the tour. I carried Caleb in his baby sling and Cora just walked with her Dad. We all enjoyed it, and it was a nice break from the heat.

Then we happened to pass a roadside winery, so we stopped to see the vineyards and the wine barrels. It was a cute little place, and Cora was able to see how grapes grow.

Next we went to Luckenbach(you know...from the song). It's not much more than a post office. They have a small stage and a dance hall. They have scheduled activities, but it's rumored that the big name country singers drop in from time to time and give a little concert for those lucky enough to be there. It's one of those places that it's fun to say that you have been there.

After a short visit in Luckenbach we drove through Fredricksburg. Looked around but didn't stop, and finally ended up in Abilene about 10pm.

We had a nice visit in Abilene and on Sunday had a Father's day cook out with the family. It was good to be able to spend time with everyone. (I'll post pics from Abilene in another post).

Finally, on Monday morning we started VBS at our church here in San Antonio.
I volunteered to help with crafts, but was asked to help teach instead.
It turned out to be really fun. I taught a 4 year old class.
Cora had fun in her class learn a lot. She brought home a bag full of crafts and color pages that she did all week. She was very proud of her creations.

Hope you enjoyed the up date.
