We had a good day today.
We slept in a bit, but I was able to wake up and enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee before the rest of the house was up and moving.
After the kids woke up and had breakfast we then headed to Greenwood to check out the farmer's market.
It was disappointing, but we were able to enjoy some good tamales while the kids played at the park.
Knowing how great the Shreveport farmer's market is, we left and headed down town.
It's such a good farmer's market. It's at festival plaza, so it's completely shaded. There are at lease 4 long rows of vendors. We came home with bell peppers, eggplant, peaches, plums, blackberries, and ice cold lemonade. Yummmm.
Little Caleb LOVES fruit. He ate half of the black berries before we got them home. His little hands and lips were stained purple.
Since the farmer's market is so close to the fountains, I checked to see that I had a change of clothes for the kids, and then we headed over to splash about and cool off.
We finally managed to drag Cora away from the water, she's such a little fish, and took a walk along the Red River and in the garden there.
It was nice and cool in the shade of those old trees.
Heading back to the van we waved to a train engineer as he passed and he pulled the whistle for us. Then we stood under the old metal bridge as the train passed over us.
It's a pretty cool experience to have a massive train passing over your head.
Before heading home, we hit Academy for a little shopping and picked up a small water boat/sand toy for the kids. Once we got home, we spent about a half an hour cutting off all the little molded plastic parts and putting the thing together.
It actually a lot of fun, like a family puzzle.
Then the kids finally were able to play with it while I watered the lawn.
Now that's a pretty good Saturday.
