For the birds

Build a bird feeder.
No really, do.
Last week we made these feeders, and we are lovng the results. Our new home in Mississippipi has no shortage of trees, so attracting birds to our little square of Earth was pretty easy. Our first customer was a tiny little chickadee. My previous experience with bird watching was with the big guys, blue jays, cardinals, robins, etc, but theses little fellas are so much fun.
Our school work today was repeatedly "interrupted" by our new backyard wild life. While sitting at the table we stopped frequently to watch various species of birds checking out our new feeders. I kept repeating that we must pick up a book on local birds. Then again, there has got to be an app for that right? Add that to my list of things to look up in my spare time. Today,we watched wresting kittens, acrobatic chickadees, a mama sparrow feeding her baby, speedy humming birds, opportunistic squirrels, and a happy black pup rolling in the dirt. We may never accomplish any "work" ever again. Go make a bird feeder and enjoy your view.

Great idea. We saw funny shaped gourds at a roadside stand and apparently if you hang them in your tree and poke a hole in them, the birds clean them out and make them into a nest. You do such an amazing job, Sarah.
